Adobe Photoshop
I am addicted to Photoshop. It is without a doubt one of the greatest programs I have ever seen. The more that I play with it, the more that I love it. Below are some samples of work that I have done on Photoshop. Bear in mind that my lightsaber shots are also photoshop, but they have their own page. Click here to return to the main page. Enjoy!
This is my showcase exhibit. I am proud to introduce to you my Great Uncle Seth Nicholson. He passed away of old age before my parents met, but through his journals and his novels, I feel like I know more than a little about him. I plan to eventually put a tutorial online concerning this photo, but click here to see the original. The original for this was a sepia tone photo of him as a young man that was given to him by the school district that he worked for on a commemorative plate. It took more than two hours to get the colorization right, but it was a very rewarding experience. I've been told that the family resemblance is indeed there. Thanks Seth, for passing along your love of writing.
This is the first official Mylcoti Arts graphics design project. A dear friend of mine is putting a website online as a free service for local pastors to have a place to post their sermons online. It is a nice way to get a bunch of the local ministers working together on something for the benefit of the community, and for Eli and I to get something back ourselves. Eli asked me to do some graphics work for me, and these are our first shots.
Before you say it, I know this is probably egotistical looking. This was just meant for fun, though. I found an online tutorial and tried my hand at it. It made sense to put this online.
I particularly love the orginal to this photo, which is the one on the left. It was a beautiful autumn day, and Baptist Campus Ministires had a hayride/cookout/campfire retreat, and Monica took this gorgeous photo. When I started first really messing around with Photoshop, I had heard that you could change the seasons in a photo. This was the result of that.
It kinda made sense to take this another step further and try one at night. That is the first picture of this set. The second, was a personal curiosity that I had. If you've looked through my paintings, you've noticed that I've done watercolor with ink. It is unbelievable to me that I did a better job with photoshop than I can with the brush. Computers are a wonderful thing.Moving along to another image, this was taken by Monica and Oglebay Park in Wheeling. Oglebay is a wonderful place to take a family for the afternoon, and will be a frequent hangout for our family one day, should we move around that area after we are married. The first picture is the original. I decided that since in my first set, I made autumn into summer, that there should be some way to move it the other direction. It is definitely not as pretty of a fall as the natural one from the Kentucky set, but its hard to do with Photoshop what God has been doing all along!
