5th Injector

This is a redneck way of getting around the stock injector's boost limit but it works and its cheap.

Up near the top is another grainger valve being used as a cutout-raiser. Seems to work really well sofar. You can see where I tied into the fuel line for the extra injector with a hardware store brass T. Finding 5/32 hose for the injector that could take the pressure wasn't easy but I finally foud some at a hydraulic shop.

And there is the cold start injector that I found in a Saab for $5. Hanging off the big wire loom by a green ziptie is the pressure switch that I got off ebay. I went ahead and added a LED on the dash wired to it so I could tell when its kicking on which is 14psi for now.

I cleaned up the wiring a bit but its still pretty ugly so it matches rest of the van. With the injector installed I have been running 18psi and my a/f gauge is still reading rich. I'd go further but my intercooler isn't all that great and I don't want to risk it without an EGT gauge. The power increase has been pretty noticable but I won't know how much till I can get back to the track. I have also installed a new performance NAN torque converter that stalls around 3200rpms to replace the old half dead non-turbo converter that was in it. I didn't think to take any pics when I did that upgrade but its just a torque converter so you probably know what it looks like. If not just head over to my tranny rebuild page. I"d had the setup for about six months without any problems, shows how often I update this, until 05 December when I blew another headgasket. That probably has more to do with my not having the head resurfaced when I blew the last one more then the extra boost or atleast I hope. I just got my extra head back from the machine shop so next update should show up a little quicker this time.
