Daguerreotype of the Nauvoo Temple
This heavily scratched daguerreotype was probably taken by a Mr. Scoville after the Mormons had abandoned Nauvoo, showing the northwestern side of the temple. Note what appears to be the hazy indication of a roofline and chimney at the base of the temple on the right, which may be the Temple Recorder's brick office. If so, this would be same building seen in the daguerreotype in the Illinois Historical Society. The original is in the LDS Church Archives, Salt Lake City, Utah. |
