A Daguerreotype of the Nauvoo Temple.
Notice what appears to be an enlarged window on the second floor. This anamoly does not appear on any of the other known photographs of the temple. One person viewing this photograph suggested that it might be a rug draped out the window. The print is not clear enough to determine this. If this is not the case, then perhaps this feature was meant to facilitate construction in same manner. Notice also what appears to be a small building at the corner of the Temple's Facade. This may be the small brick Temple Office used by the Temple Recorder to receive donations. This same building appears in the daguerreotype owned by the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. The orginal daguerreotype is in the Illinois State Historical Society, Springfield, Illinois. |
