About Me:

My name is Danielle Bray. I am a sophomore at Marshall University. I am from a small town in southern West Virginia. I am a secondary education major with emphasis in general science and chemistry education. It didn't start out this way. I began my college education with plans of being a pharmacist. However, it wasn't long to realize my future job isn't going to make me happy because of the money, my passion is teaching and helping people and it was my grandmother who reminded me of the day she walked into a room to find me teaching and speaking to an imaginary classroom. She said she sat and watched me for about an hour and let me write on her refrigerator with a washable marker to make it seem that I had a chalk board. She supported me even when I was young, and also helped me to realize that I've always wanted this and reminded me that still today she supports me.

Unit Plan Description:

The unit plan that I have created is for an 11th or 12th grade chemistry one class. This unit plan introduces students to the historic attributes of important chemists and their discoveries and theories, as well as lays the basics of atomic structure and chemical calculations. During this section the students will partake in interactive projects to learn key components of the atomic theory from Dalton’s view and the contemporary view, also participate in a project to learn the basics of atoms and elements. The knowledge gained with these basic concepts will provide a solid foundation for students to continue with more complex chemical analysis.
